DOLCE & GABBANA'S ALTA MODA COUTURE SHOW TAKE OVER CAPRI
Princess dresses, handbags and a cliff-side catwalk in Capri? Dolce & Gabbana just showed Paris Couture Week how it's really done. Dolce & Gabbana saw Paris Haute Couture Week, the airwaves were filled with Fifties hit 'Mambo Italiano'. And topped it with an Alta Moda show set in sun-drenched Capri, where models arrived in fishing boats and dresses were bigger and dreamier than ever before.
The intimacy of this exceptional event in a secret cove off the Italian Island meant that this was the rarest of events: a paparazzi-free zone.
Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce sent huge nautical inspired dresses down the cliff-side runway, followed by embellished fruit prints and one hell of a princess dress. Naturally, there were crowns again, along with Polka dot bandanas, chunky jewels and embellished basket style handbags.
We love the whole Victorian & Holiday feel the collection gives, from the very opulent fabrics and accessories to a very Vacay inspired stripes!
ITS ALL ABOUT FASHION!!
Hey all you gorgeous people! Hope your having a great weekend!!
So, Christmas is round the corner and so is the New Year 2014, i know right?! time flies soo quick!
Here are few trend alert from 2014 that are mandatory!!
The spring 2014 season has shuffled off the runways of the big four fashion capitals, giving us plenty to look forward to. But let’s face it; we’re impatient. Not only do we want these pretty, shiny new things nowbecause they’re pretty, new and shiny, we want them so we can get on top of the trends before everyone else does. It’s not only fun to be first, but the surest way to invest wisely in 2014 fashion pieces that will last.
And so, to help you get on top of what’s in store, here are 5 spring / summer 2014 fashion trends you can start to wear now.
Wordplay.
Not so much slogans as statements, the trend of plastering words across everything from clutch bags to knits continues into spring / summer 2014. We suspect it doesn’t matter much what you say, as long as you’re saying it loud and clear. The aim is to draw eyes and generate interest: never was there a better conversation starter than a boldly lettered article of clothing.
Alexander Wang’s clever Parental Advisory message stuck in the mind, Undercover’s bold letters were even glow-in-the-dark, and Christopher Kane opted for a softer take (‘Petal’). Kenzo went environmental with their messages.
Wear it now: you’ll already find slogan prints galore on the market. The key here is the more interesting and witty, the better.
Inverse shirt buttoning.
Lets admit it, we all have done the mistake of buttoning up our shirts inversely specially when in hurry.. but yaayy we dont need to do them again anymore :D It’s so simple it sounds almost crazy, but the simplicity of it is also its genius. Rather than leaving the top few buttons of your shirt undone, invert the process. Button up the top few, and leave the rest to float open wide.
Alexander Wang did it, Rodarte did it, Diesel Black Gold did it… that’s enough mounting evidence to call it a trend. Other designers did the same with dresses. There’s no requirement to keep it to shirts.
Wear it now: if you’re in part of the world facing autumn / winter, get to layering. That open triangle doesn’t have to let the world peep your belly button, simply layer an open shirt or jacket over another top or two. You’ll be well ahead on this one.
Fringing
Oooo I loveee this one!! Since I have a major crush on fringe anything! Fringing takes on a broad range of styles for spring 2014. On the runways, fringing and tassels swished onto the scene and found new ways to make a mark.
Wear it now: leather, silk, beading… if you can find a piece that works some fringing into the equation, invest.
Le smoking.
They’re not quite a traditional smoking jacket or tuxedo, but a number of spring 2014′s pieces took inspiration from them. Shawl collars and luxe fabrics give off a tux vibe while bright colours and cuts give it an electric and fresh feel(ppsssttt.. you can also grab some studs, feathers or even beads from your local tailoring store and sew or glue them on to the jackets to give it an edgy and customised look)
Wear it now: Blumarine made theirs fresh in spring yellow and white; Pucci’s was electric blue. In warm weather you can channel this fresh and bright take already; for fall opt for heavier fabrics (velvet, even) and work them into your layering.
Okay so.. clothes.. check!! how about some hair trends ?!
The hair accessory trends you need to know about for spring 2014.
From leather headbands to sprinklings of iridescent flowers, bows to golden barrettes, the right hair accessory will liven up any hairstyle come spring. If you want to be inspired by the best hair accessories from the runways, read on.
From gold barrettes and leather headbands, to flower blossoms and flakes of gold, the spring of 2014 mixes modern toughness with the best of femininity. Either you opt for sleek hairstyles and equally polished hair accessories, or you choose to take the subtle route and play upon delicate embellishments, one thing is certain: hair accessories are a key statement to be made all throughout spring and summer 2014Hippie flower headbands Accompanying flowy materials and of bohemian aesthetic, the hippie flower headbands are still going strong for spring 2014. With subtle makeup, these flower headband would be perfect to accompany a very rustic yet natural day look.
Flower blossoms At Dolce & Gabbana is where pure romance met the richness of the Sicilian look while setting an ultrabeautiful direction for spring 2014. Softly shaped hairstyles and Romanesque coin belts were accentuated with delicate flower blossoms, metaphor for the appliques seen on so many of the dresses.
Iridescent flowers Subtlety and daintiness were key to Honor’s spring 2014 runway hairstyles. Pretty ponytails and dreamy iridescent flowers carefully sprinkled along the sides, talked about a new idea of sophistication, born out of the tiny metallic flower’s playful essence.
Flower barrettes A definite nod to the disco era, the big, backcombed curls at Jenny Packham were finished off with pretty flower barrettes, placed right above the temple. Aside from securing the style in place, the lovely flower barrettes served to accent the hair’s romantic texture and bold volume.
Flower pins With romantic ballerinas, rose gardens and Marie Antoinette serving as inspiration, it’s no wonder the hair at Zac Posen appeared to be borrowed straight out from a fairytale. Delicate flower blossoms contrasted the messy pin curl up-dos, recreating the perfect spring enchantment.
Leather hair accessories
Super-chic, edgy and adding a beautiful contrast to the place where femininity meets the effortlessness of spring, the use of leather in hair accessories on the runway, evoked both the old-world elegance, and the modern-day toughness. This season opt for:
Leather embellished headbands At Valentino, the regal low ponytails may have channeled a distant past, but they were made ultra-modern by a string of leather-embellished headbands. Evoking a sense of simplicity while retaining Valentino’s quest for timeless elegance, these accessories embody the idea of modern femininity.
Leather ties Delicate, but obvious enough to get noticed, the leather ties at Diesel Black Gold turned the soft, classic braided hairstyles into casual and accessible looks women can wear on a daily bases. Slightly loosened and slightly wet, the braids were only enhanced by these cool pieces of leather.
Leather bands Envisioned as to balance Helmut Lang’s baggier clothes, the slick and controlled looks featuring super low and loose ponytails were strategically wrapped with black leather hair accessories. This is how the hairstyles gained a tough, yet effortless aspect the easy way.
Headbands
Aside from the majestic leather embellished headbands seen at Valentino, the spring 2014 runways witnessed the dainty hair accessories take on various other forms. Amongst them:
Jewel headbands Not your usual headbands, the jewel versions introduced on the spring 2014 runways by Tanya Taylor speak about youth and luxury by making use of colorful gems and precious ornaments.
Blue ribbon headbands They may not seem like much at first, but when finishing off gorgeous bouffant hairstyles similar to the ones seen at Alexis Mabille, the thick blue headbands bring the retro looks right back under the spotlight.
Hope all you glamorous dolls inculcate few of these pointers to welcome the New Year 2014 in a very fashionable manner :)
Men’s Fashion trends for Fall/Winter 2013
Fall/Winter plays a very exciting role for a lot of fashion enthusiasts; one of which being layering. Everyone loves the idea of throwing a jacket over a sweater over a shirt and adding your final touches here and there. This time of year is especially appealing to men, Why? Because this is the time of year men receive more options than a pair of shorts and a T-shirt in the summer.(Overcoats, vests, jackets, sweaters, cardigans, layered socks, boots, corduroy, etc.)
Some trends this coming Fall/Winter season are going to be easy, creative, and the perfect mix of change.
Statement Scarves
- One of my favorite trends of Fall/Winter 2013 would be statement scarves. Paris, Milan and London fashion week has demonstrated that a nice knit scarf-topper, is the way to finish off your outfits. Everything from a blanket sized wrap, chunky wool knit, exaggerated and bold prints or last the ever common full knot. Any way you wear it, it will bring to life your now finished outfit.
Camouflage Print
- This trend tried to make headlines in Fall/Winter 2012, but for some reason it was a flop. This year the print is being reinvented with different color patters, shapes, and pieces that it’s created with. Backpacks, pants, ties, scarves, shoes and even underwear are seeing the wild fire trend already appearing in major cities all throughout Europe.
Burgundy
- What a nice color to throw with camo print and maybe a statement scarf? (lol) Burgundy has played a nice part over the past couple years, but now that this year is bringing it to the foregrounds, this color has its spotlight. Not only can you subtly add the color with small fashion accessories, but you can also wear large statement pieces like Jackets, sweaters or pants to be bold and unique.
Black Leather
- This trend made its debut a little bit last year and it has yet again been a trend favorite. Whether the leather is used on a whole garment or added as a design detail, each have been spotted internationally. This year the leather has adapted sharp cuts and strong lines to emphasize its rocker rebirth. What we’ve seen from Paris to Milan is the universal “Black is Back” but really it’s never jumped too far away.
Plaid
- This trend has been in-and-out faster than a Lindsey Lohan jail sentence, but we continuously give it back its credit. It seems as though plaid this season(s) will be added through accessories like socks, scarves, bags, ties, hats and even spotted in the lining of jackets. Enjoy this “jail-broken” pop to your wardrobe because once it’s over, we can throw it back in the Hell’s of our closets again
Cuffed Pants/”High Waters”
- It seems like the exposed ankle and sock combination is in this Fall/Winter. From cuffed bottoms to naturally “high watered” pants. The socks are what make this trend perfect. Prints, patterns, colors and fabrics make this fun and dynamic. A roll cuff, band cuff or even the fresh and fast “sloppy” cuff can make an added style change to your current attire.
Backpacks
- My #1 favorite trend this Fall/Winter; BACKPACKS! I personally, have always been a huge fan of backpacks even when they weren’t a trend. From season to season, year to year, we constantly find new ways to carry our belongings that we consider “everyday” necessities. If I’m going to be carrying things might as well be on my back. I like the idea of an easy throw over and go that consistently is seen with extra pockets, compartments, and heavy duty materials to last you years down the road. I’d say investing in a nice military, leather or khaki school boy satchel style bag would make every outfit the most complete.
We hope this post has given all you hot hunks out there a heads up on how to style yourself this season, stay sexy ;)
xoxo
